They Built Brands, Apps, and Worlds — All Before Graduation

SEGi brought innovation, creativity, and professionalism to the forefront with the CRE-TECH Showcase 2025, held from 21 to 23 April at the Level 5 Theatrette. The event featured 14 final-year students from the Diploma in Creative Multimedia programme, who presented their capstone projects to a room filled with peers, faculty members, and industry professionals. More than just a showcase, the event was a strategic platform to prepare students for the realities of the creative industry while highlighting their design, digital, and communication expertise.

Students presented projects spanning diverse disciplines — from 3D animation and application mock-ups to brand identity, advertising, and photography. Each student explained their conceptual frameworks, technical processes, and final executions, reflecting not only their creative skills but also their ability to articulate design thinking in a professional setting. The presentations were followed by an interactive exhibition, giving attendees an up-close experience of the projects while fostering meaningful conversations and peer engagement.

To enhance the learning experience, two judges — Yeeni Ayu Rosita from SEGi College Sarawak and Chua Wei Ling, Founder of Oceanic Interactive Company — provided in-depth feedback on each project. Their evaluations focused on clarity, conceptual depth, and presentation quality, offering students tangible direction for enhancing their portfolios and professional readiness. As the creative economy continues to grow globally, events like this are critical in shaping employable, adaptable graduates. According to UNESCO, cultural and creative industries account for 3.1% of global GDP and employ over 30 million people worldwide.

The showcase served as a bridge between academic excellence and real-world application, reinforcing SEGi’s commitment to nurturing future-ready graduates through project-based learning and industry exposure. Students were not only given a space to exhibit their work but were empowered to network, receive mentorship, and explore creative career pathways — key elements in building sustainable professional futures in the design sector.
