SEGians Explore Biodiversity at VH Green Nature Park

Students from the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing, and Health Sciences at SEGi College Sarawak recently participated in a field trip to VH Green Nature Park, an initiative aimed at bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world applications. The trip provided an immersive experience where students could apply their theoretical knowledge of biology in a natural setting, reinforcing the importance of experiential learning in academic development.

The VH Green Nature Park, renowned for its rich biodiversity and natural ecosystems, was the perfect backdrop for this hands-on learning opportunity. The park’s diverse flora and fauna allowed students to observe various species and better understand the ecological principles they had studied. This living laboratory provided the students with a deeper appreciation of the complexity of biological interactions and conservation efforts.

A standout feature of the trip was the captivating bird performance, where colourful parrots exhibited their intelligence and agility. Through this unique spectacle, students gained insights into avian behaviour, anatomy, and adaptation strategies. The educational component was reinforced by park guides who explained the significance of these birds in maintaining ecological balance, adding value to the students’ learning experience.

Throughout the day, students explored different habitats within the park, identifying various species of plants and animals. These activities were carefully designed to encourage the application of their classroom knowledge in taxonomy, ecology, and environmental conservation. The experience not only enriched their academic understanding but also highlighted the importance of preserving biodiversity in local ecosystems.

The field trip is a testament to SEGi College Sarawak’s commitment to fostering holistic learning experiences that go beyond traditional classroom settings. By exposing students to real-world applications of their studies, the college prepares them to be knowledgeable and responsible professionals who are ready to tackle the environmental and health challenges of the future.
