SEGi College Sarawak was honoured with an exclusive invitation from the Institute of Creative Arts and Technology (iCreaTe) at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) to participate in the iCreaTe & IBS Open Day on October 19. Held at the iconic Arts & Crafts Hall on the second floor of the Borneo Cultural Museum, this vibrant event immersed SEGi students and lecturers in the dynamic worlds of art and digital technology, showcasing an array of creative pathways.
The open day was a fusion of innovation and artistry, featuring everything from the intricate beauty of Islamic art to the cutting-edge domains of 3D animation and game design. SEGi students experienced firsthand the opportunities within Malaysia’s booming digital creative sector, which is projected to grow by 8-10% annually, driven by sectors like gaming, animation, and multimedia (Source: Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation – MDEC). This thriving industry reflects Malaysia’s push towards a digital economy, with MDEC providing incentives that attract international studios and nurture local talent.
Through this experience, SEGi’s students gained invaluable insights into industry trends and were inspired to channel their creative energy towards innovation. By attending events like iCreaTe & IBS Open Day, SEGi reinforces its commitment to providing an education that keeps students at the forefront of the digital age, preparing them for success in an evolving global marketplace.
With the support of both government and industry partnerships, Malaysia’s digital creative industry is making an increasing economic impact. This event not only allowed SEGi students to explore potential career paths but also strengthened their understanding of the importance of creativity and innovation in driving progress.
Such initiatives align seamlessly with SEGi’s dedication to quality education and its mission to produce industry-ready graduates. Through strategic exposure to industry leaders and real-world experiences, SEGi continually empowers students to shape the future of the creative sector.
