SEGi College Sarawak recently hosted the “ASUS AI PC – Simplify Your Life Workshop” on 27 September 2024, providing students and staff with an opportunity to explore how artificial intelligence can simplify daily tasks and enhance productivity. The event was organised by the Faculty of Communication, Design and Information Technology in collaboration with PC Image, bringing together participants from Information Technology, Computer Science, Creative Multimedia, and other programmes.
Led by trainer Matthew Thong, the workshop offered hands-on experience with advanced Asus laptops featuring AI-driven tools like CoPilot and CoCreator. These tools are designed to automate routine processes and improve workflow efficiency, providing a glimpse into how AI can help shape the future of work. With the increasing emphasis on digital transformation, this workshop was a significant step towards preparing students for an AI-enabled workplace.
Students engaged in various interactive activities, exploring the practical use of AI in both academic and professional contexts. According to a report by PwC, AI could contribute up to $15.7 trillion to the global economy by 2030, underscoring the importance of integrating AI skills into education to remain competitive. By giving students early exposure to these technologies, SEGi is helping them build essential skills for the evolving job market.
Participants were also treated to exclusive discount vouchers for Asus products, encouraging them further to explore the benefits of AI beyond the workshop. The event concluded with a networking session, fostering discussions and peer connections while reflecting on the transformative potential of AI in education and work.
