By Mr Samuel Desmond Tuah, Lecturer, Faculty of Law

On 26 and 27 November 2022, the SEGi College Sarawak Debating joined the Sarawak Debate Open organised by Intertext, which included teams of 14 teams and 28 debaters from all over Malaysia and the World.

The SEGi team comprising Harris Kueh Ren Jin and Samuel Desmond Tuah, was able to break to the Grand Finals after winning the physical knockout stages, defeating the likes of Swinburne and MMU on their way to the Finals. The team, however, could not defeat the Open team of “Verbal POI’s Only”, who ended up winning the Sarawak Debate Open Grand Finals.

Team coach Samuel Desmond Tuah commented, “We definitely achieved beyond our own expectations by reaching the Grand Finals, while we were not the best, we were still one of the Best”.

SEGi College Sarawak Debate team also wished to thank YB See Chee How, who had sponsored the team entrance fee to join the tournament.

Members of the Law Faculty, Harris Kueh Ren Jin, Samuel Desmond Tuah, Christina Chew Hui Hui and Sean Tan Hsien Zhong represented the SEGi team.
