On 8 and 9 March, SEGi College Penang’s School of Hospitality and Tourism Management hosted its annual two-day open market event, the Grand Entrepreneurship Bazaar Day. The purpose of the event was to give students the opportunity to turn their business ideas into real-world business activities. Students are expected to apply the theories and concepts they have learned in class at the Entrepreneurship Grand Bazaar, which is one of the assessment requirements for CAD3113P/TOU3124N: Entrepreneurship.
Muhamad Irfan Bustaipo, an Entrepreneurship class lecturer with entrepreneurial experience, provided support for the project. Students demonstrated their dedication, enthusiasm, and creativity in preparing for the big day at the event. Salty and Sweet, Summertime, BJO, Dessert Time, and Chicken King were among the vendors at the bazaar.
At the conclusion of the event, the students submitted a final balance sheet, which began with the total amount of money collected. The students were asked to present their total daily sales and profit. Surprisingly, all of the teams were able to double their initial investment, and the majority of the teams were able to triple their initial investment.
The Grand Entrepreneurship Bazaar is an important part of the students’ financial literacy event, and it inspires students long after the event is over. The School of Hospitality and Tourism Management hopes that the students’ recent experience will serve as a springboard for them to start online businesses, sell their products in existing stores, or plant a seed for future endeavours. After graduating from SEGi College Penang, developing entrepreneurial skills is highly valued, and events like the Grand Entrepreneurship Bazaar provide the ideal platform for students to launch their own businesses.
SEGi College Penang’s School of Hospitality and Tourism Management’s Grand Entrepreneurship Bazaar Day provided students with a practical platform to apply the theoretical knowledge they had gained in their Entrepreneurship class. The event was a huge success, with students demonstrating their dedication, enthusiasm, and creativity, resulting in all teams doubling their investment and many teams tripling their investment. This event exemplifies how hands-on experience can assist students in developing valuable entrepreneurial skills that can be used to build successful businesses in the future.
