SOHT gather together creating connections and cultivating well-being

Student life, often defined by a whirlwind of classes, assignments, and exams, can exact a toll on mental health. The pressure of balancing academics, part-time jobs, and personal commitments can leave students feeling overwhelmed. Recognising the critical importance of mental health, SEGi College Penang’s School of Hospitality and Tourism (SOHT) devised an innovative solution: the SOHT Gather Together. This event, held during the intense exam seasons, has emerged as a beacon of relief, fostering mental well-being among students.

The SOHT Gather Together transcends the confines of traditional academics, providing a much-needed break from the rigors of the classroom. It’s a vibrant, on-campus social gathering, where students and lecturers come together as one community. The event, although seemingly unrelated to academics, plays a pivotal role in enhancing a student’s overall learning experience. In a world dominated by lectures and textbooks, this gathering offers an unconventional yet invaluable education – one that promotes social interaction, team building, and a much-needed respite from the pressures of academic life.

Organised under the able leadership of Muhamad Irfan, the SOHT Gather Together exposes students to a plethora of enriching activities. From engaging with the HOST Club to participating in disciplinary and attire classes with Shuhada and academic discussions with Sabrina, students gain practical insights that extend beyond theoretical knowledge. The event is not just about fun and games; it’s about nurturing a supportive academic community. Through team-building activities, students forge bonds that extend beyond their immediate social circles, fostering unity and solidarity within SOHT.

Participating in the SOHT Gather Together is more than just a leisure activity; it’s an investment in a student’s holistic growth. By engaging in this event, students expand their social networks, connecting not only with their peers but also with lecturers, diploma students, and degree students. These connections are more than casual friendships – they are pathways to academic assistance, professional guidance, and future networking opportunities. In the rapidly evolving world of work, where interpersonal skills are as crucial as technical expertise, events like the SOHT Gather Together are not just a luxury but a necessity, equipping students with the social acumen they need to navigate the professional landscape successfully.

In essence, the SOHT Gather Together is a testament to SEGi College Penang’s commitment to providing education that goes beyond textbooks. It’s about fostering a sense of belonging, promoting mental well-being, and equipping students with the skills and connections they need to thrive in the real world. As students laugh, learn, and build relationships during this event, they are not just having fun; they are laying the foundation for a successful and fulfilling future.
