SEGi College Penang hospitality students visit Angsana Teluk Bahang Hotel

SEGi College Penang’s students taking the Introduction to Hospitality Industry class under the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management had a fun and educational visit to the Angsana Teluk Bahang Hotel on 14 October 2022, accompanied by their lecturer, Muhamad Irfan bin Bustaipo.

The main aim of the visit was to enhance the students’ understanding of the lessons taught in the classroom. The group was welcomed by the hotel’s Human Resources Manager, Sharon Chow, and given a briefing on its history, background and operations.

The Angsana Teluk Bahang Hotel is the first Angsana brand in Malaysia, and is managed by Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts. The vibrant resort is located on the idyllic Teluk Bahang beach that just opened in October 2020. The resort offers 250 sea view rooms and suites with intimate designs of Peranakan-theme decor complete with modern amenities and colourful tapestries.

The students also had the opportunity to learn from Brian Chong, Executive Chef of Angsana Teluk Bahang, who shared his inspiring story of how he became a chef. To complete the visit, the students were taken on a tour of the back-of-the-house offices and operations of the hotel.

This was an instructional trip for the first-year students, giving context to the lessons taught in the classroom.
