School teachers benefit from SEGi College Penang’s workshop

SEGi College Penang’s School of Hospitality and Tourism organised the “We are the Host” workshop for fifty-six secondary school teachers from SMJK Convent Dato Keramat Penang to share knowledge and skills related to the hospitality business. The practical workshop consisted of three sessions.

The teachers were divided into two groups who took the workshops in turns. The first was the “Sandwiches and Canapes” workshop led by Chef Muhammad Yazid, which taught the participants how to prepare three different types of sandwiches and canapes.

The second workshop was the “Non-alcoholic Beverage” workshop led by Nur Shuhada, which provided an understanding of non-alcoholic beverages and their service techniques. While the last one was the “Table Etiquette” workshop by Sabrina, which taught how to make a favourable impression during dining events through the visible signals of manners which leave lasting impressions and are thus essential to professional success.

At the end of the session, the principal of SMJK Convent Dato Keramat, Mdm See Bee Khim, stated in her closing address that she hoped for more collaborations and professional sharing sessions related to other fields. The event was a success; all the teachers had a fun learning experience with our lecturers and gained new skills and experiences that could be shared with their students.
