On 7 November 2024, the International Educational Design, Games, Invention & Innovation (iEDGII) 2024 competition brought together innovators from around the world, all competing under the theme “Innovative Excellence in Education: Pioneering Inclusive Learning.” Among the outstanding participants, Lim Jian Feng, a Bachelor of Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) student from SEGi, earned a prestigious Bronze Medal in the Tertiary Higher Education Institutions category for his groundbreaking mobile learning application, D’Learn Pro.
D’Learn Pro is a mobile application designed to tackle the challenges faced by students in online learning, particularly in courses that require a strong understanding of databases. One of the app’s most impressive features is its offline functionality, which allows students to access course content without the need for a constant internet connection. This feature makes it a modern, mobile alternative to traditional CD courseware, providing a more flexible and user-friendly platform for learning.
D’Learn Pro was developed to address the digital divide and enhance educational accessibility, a key aspect of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education. The app ensures that students, regardless of their internet connectivity, can access vital learning materials, helping to bridge the gap in education. By providing an engaging and accessible learning experience, D’Learn Pro contributes to improving the quality and inclusivity of education, allowing students to continue their academic journey without the barriers of unstable internet connections.
Lim Jian Feng’s remarkable achievement not only showcases his passion for advancing educational technology but also reflects SEGi College Penang’s commitment to fostering creativity, innovation, and practical problem-solving. His success at iEDGII 2024 highlights the institution’s focus on providing students with the tools and opportunities to address real-world challenges through technological innovation.
This accomplishment further solidifies SEGi College Penang’s reputation as a leader in cultivating excellence in education and innovation. Lim Jian Feng’s achievement serves as an inspiration to fellow students and demonstrates how innovation in the field of education technology can make a lasting impact on global learning.
