On 28 March 2025, SEGi brought meaningful outreach to the streets of George Town through Ramadhan On-The-Go, a student-led community service initiative under the SEGian Care Club. More than 50 participants came together to distribute kurma and SEGi-branded mineral water to the public, reinforcing the spirit of compassion and shared humanity during the holy month of Ramadhan.
The initiative wasn’t just about distribution—it was a celebration of volunteerism, leadership, and cultural awareness. Students, staff, and international participants worked side-by-side, engaging the public while sharing insights about the significance of Ramadhan through short on-the-go presentations. For many foreign students, it was their first time participating in such a culturally immersive event—an experience that broadened their understanding and deepened their appreciation of local traditions.
Despite a brief disruption due to light rain and a minor tremor, the team adapted swiftly and maintained high morale. Committee leaders stepped up to coordinate logistics and guide foreign student groups with confidence, fostering strong teamwork and mentoring in the process. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with students describing the event as both educational and personally transformative.
The initiative also served as a platform for advancing SEGi College Penang’s commitment to inclusive volunteerism and intercultural learning. As outlined in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, community engagement and inclusive education are key to building peaceful, resilient societies. This event aligns closely with SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, and SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, by empowering young people to lead with empathy and action in diverse environments.
The impact delivered far exceeded monetary value—demonstrating that even small gestures can spark powerful connections and long-lasting memories. Plans are already in motion to expand the event’s interactive components, with more structured roles and backup plans to improve future editions.
This event is organised in support of the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG):
Quality Education (SDG 4)
Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10)
Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11)
