More Than a Run: A Movement for Resilience & Opportunity

SEGi College Penang proudly participated in the Warrior Run 2024, hosted by Gleneagles Hospital Penang on 1st December 2024. The event, held at the iconic Esplanade Penang, commenced at 7:30 AM, aiming to honour and support the resilience of cancer survivors while raising awareness about their journeys.

Demonstrating a commitment to promoting health and well-being, SEGi operated its own food truck, managed by enthusiastic students. The menu featured nutritious options such as Teriyaki Chicken Rice Bowls, refreshing Fruit Salad Bowls, and hearty Chicken Wraps, aligning with the principles of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-being. This initiative not only provided healthy meal choices to participants but also underscored the importance of a balanced diet in cancer prevention and overall health.

In line with SDG 4: Quality Education, SEGi offered students valuable hands-on experience in food preparation, sales, and customer engagement. This practical exposure is essential in equipping students with the skills necessary for future employment, thereby enhancing their educational journey.

Furthermore, by empowering students with entrepreneurial and operational skills, SEGi contributes to SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth. Such initiatives prepare students for sustainable economic opportunities, fostering a skilled workforce ready to contribute meaningfully to the economy.

The collaboration between SEGi and Gleneagles Hospital Penang exemplifies the essence of SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. This partnership highlights how educational institutions and healthcare providers can unite to support community health initiatives, demonstrating the impact of collective efforts in achieving shared objectives.

This event is organised in support of the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG):
