On 3 July 2026, the Department of Psychology, SEGi College Penang successfully organised an online webinar titled “Clinical Neuropsychology Uncovered: Myths, Facts and Career Insight” via Microsoft Teams. The webinar brought together undergraduate and diploma psychology students from SEGi College Penang and SEGi University, providing valuable exposure to one of psychology’s most specialised and rapidly evolving fields.
The session introduced participants to the fundamentals of clinical neuropsychology, helping students understand the relationship between the brain and behaviour while addressing common myths and misconceptions surrounding the profession. Through expert insights, students gained a clearer understanding of the important role neuropsychologists play in the assessment, diagnosis, rehabilitation, and treatment of individuals with neurological and cognitive conditions.
A key focus of the webinar was exploring career pathways in clinical neuropsychology. Participants learned about the educational qualifications, specialised training, and professional competencies required to pursue this rewarding career. The session also highlighted diverse employment opportunities within hospitals, rehabilitation centres, research institutions, and private practice, offering students a comprehensive overview of the profession.
The webinar concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, where students interacted directly with the speaker by raising questions on postgraduate studies, career development, professional experiences, and future opportunities in the field. The discussion encouraged students to reflect on their own career aspirations while gaining practical advice from an experienced professional.
By bridging academic learning with professional practice, the webinar provided students with valuable insights beyond the classroom and broadened their understanding of specialised psychological careers. The initiative reinforced SEGi College Penang’s commitment to nurturing future psychology professionals who are knowledgeable, career-ready, and equipped to meet the evolving needs of the healthcare industry.
SEGi College Penang remains dedicated to organising academic enrichment programmes that connect students with industry experts and emerging areas of psychology. Through initiatives such as this, students are empowered to make informed academic and career decisions while developing the knowledge and skills needed to excel in their future professions.
