SEGi College Penang recently organised a Social Media Addiction Awareness Campaign, an interactive initiative designed to educate the college community about the impact of excessive social media use while promoting healthier digital habits and overall well-being.
The campaign aimed to raise awareness of social media addiction by encouraging participants to assess their own screen-time behaviours and understand the potential effects of excessive social media usage on mental health, productivity, and daily life. Students and staff also learned practical strategies to develop a healthier relationship with technology.
To create an engaging learning experience, the event featured a series of interactive booths, including a Social Media Addiction Scale, a Bingo activity, and a fun Brain Rot game. These activities encouraged participants to reflect on their digital habits while learning about the signs of social media addiction in an enjoyable and interactive way.
Participants also received valuable information on coping strategies, healthy screen-time practices, and techniques to achieve a better balance between online engagement and everyday life. Through discussions with facilitators, they explored practical steps to reduce excessive social media use and improve their overall well-being.
The awareness campaign received enthusiastic participation from members of the SEGi College Penang community, with many participants sharing positive feedback on the informative and engaging nature of the programme. The initiative successfully fostered greater awareness of responsible digital behaviour and encouraged participants to adopt healthier lifestyle habits.
SEGi College Penang remains committed to promoting student well-being through educational initiatives that address contemporary issues affecting young people. By empowering students with knowledge and practical coping strategies, the college continues to nurture responsible, resilient, and digitally mindful individuals.
