The “Empowering Futures: Skills & Confidence” workshop was successfully conducted on 22 April 2026 for Form 6 students at KTE Hutchings. The programme, led by the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management team, aimed to equip students with essential soft skills crucial for academic progression, career readiness, and personal development.
The workshop adopted an interactive and experiential learning approach, allowing students to engage in practical activities that simulated real-world situations. This approach enhanced students’ confidence, communication abilities, and overall competence in handling professional scenarios.
The session commenced with an introduction to SEGi College Penang, delivered by Programme Leader Lee Chin Ching. The introduction provided students with valuable insights into higher education opportunities and academic pathways.
This was followed by a grooming and professional etiquette session conducted by Muhammad Irfan, where students were guided on appropriate self-presentation, personal appearance, and professional conduct. Emphasis was placed on the importance of first impressions in both academic and workplace environments.
Subsequently, Lee Chin Ching facilitated a session on interview tips and techniques. Students were introduced to effective communication strategies, common interview practices, and methods to present themselves confidently during interviews.
The workshop concluded with interactive group challenges that promoted teamwork, leadership, and interpersonal skills. These activities encouraged collaboration, critical thinking, and active participation among students. The students responded positively and demonstrated high levels of engagement, clearly enjoying the hands-on learning experience.
Overall, the workshop achieved its objectives of enhancing students’ personal grooming, communication, teamwork, and self-confidence. It also provided meaningful exposure to skills that are essential for future academic pursuits and career development. The initiative reflects a strong commitment to holistic student development and empowerment.
