🌊 SEGi College Penang Makes Waves at BE @ Penang 2025

SEGi College Penang proudly participated in BE @ Penang 2025, Malaysia’s premier business events conference, held on 11 and 12 December 2025 under the theme “BE @ Penang: BE THE WAVE.” The event gathered global thought leaders, industry experts, academics, and future professionals to discuss innovation, sustainability, and the future of business events in the Asia-Pacific region.

The SEGi delegation was led by Dr. Leong Mi-Chelle, Principal of SEGi College Penang, together with programme leaders, lecturers, and bachelor’s degree students from the Tourism and Hospitality programmes. Their participation reflected SEGi’s strong commitment to experiential learning and meaningful industry engagement.

The theme “BE THE WAVE” encouraged participants to actively shape the future of their industries while positioning Penang as a dynamic destination where heritage meets innovation. For SEGi participants, the conference offered valuable exposure to emerging trends in artificial intelligence (AI), sustainability, and business events.

A highlight of the conference was the session by Mr. Hiroshi Tamura, globally recognised as the “father” of the modern GT-R. Drawing from his long career at Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., he shared insights on innovation, long-term vision, and brand legacy, offering lessons that resonated beyond the automotive industry.

Equally impactful was the session by Dr. Bona Nahyun Lee, a MICE strategist and AI planning expert with over 17 years of experience. She shared how AI-driven planning, data intelligence, and sustainable event design are reshaping the MICE industry, providing valuable perspectives for tourism and hospitality students.

Participation in BE @ Penang 2025 reinforced SEGi College Penang’s role in bridging academic knowledge with industry practice. Students gained exposure to real-world insights, engaged with industry leaders, and developed a broader understanding of global industry expectations.

By embracing the spirit of “BE THE WAVE,” SEGi College Penang continues to champion innovation, collaboration, and responsible leadership, preparing graduates to contribute meaningfully to a sustainable and future-ready tourism and business events industry.
