The School of Computing, SEGi College Penang, successfully organised the “Pitch and Present” event on 8th December 2025. The event brought together students from the Diploma in Information Technology programme and the Bachelor of Computer Science programmes specialising in Cyber Security & Networks and Artificial Intelligence, with the aim of aligning technology-driven solutions with global sustainability challenges.
For Diploma in IT students, the event served as a platform to present their Final Year Projects, highlighting practical applications of information technology designed to address real-world problems. These presentations demonstrated students’ ability to apply technical knowledge in meaningful ways while considering societal and sustainability needs.
Meanwhile, Bachelor’s degree students participated according to their level of study. Part 2 students presented their final projects, while Part 1 students conducted their project defence sessions, proposing innovative ideas related to Cyber Security and Networks, Artificial Intelligence, STEM, and IoT.
A key highlight of the event was the strong academia–industry collaboration, made possible through the participation of experienced industry professionals, founders, and corporate leaders who formed an active industry panel. Their presence provided students with valuable insights into real-world expectations, industry standards, and emerging technological trends.
The distinguished industry guests included Mr. Lee Yeong Yih, CEO and Founder of Zoewebs; Ms. Nhu Nguyen, CEO and Founder of New Digital Sdn Bhd; Ms. Koh Bei Xian, Project Director and Founder of Kode Digital, together with Mr. Michael Lopez, Programmer at Kode Digital; Mr. Vincent Ho, Co-Founder and Manager of Infinity Networks Sdn Bhd; and Puan Nur Azimah bt Azmi, Assistant Officer from the Information Technology Unit, KITab. The panel was further strengthened by Mr. Lee Chong Wei, Tester Engineer from Keysight Technologies, who shared insights on industry standards, testing methodologies, and quality assurance practices, highlighting the importance of responsible and sustainable technological innovation.
During the event, Mr. Vincent Ho emphasised the importance of initiatives such as Pitch and Present in providing a valuable platform for industry players to identify and engage potential future talents. He noted that such events allow industry leaders to recognise students who are capable of developing innovative, market-ready, and commercially viable products, and expressed his hope that SEGi College Penang would continue to organise similar programmes.
Overall, the Pitch and Present event successfully achieved its objectives by strengthening collaboration between academia and industry while offering students valuable exposure, constructive feedback, and networking opportunities. The initiative reflects the strong commitment of the School of Computing, SEGi College Penang, to producing industry-ready graduates who are confident, capable, and prepared to meet the evolving demands of the Information Technology and Computer Science industry.
