On 4 October 2025, SEGi College Penang, in collaboration with the Penang English Language Learning and Teaching Association (PELLTA), hosted an insightful workshop titled “A Practical Guide to Implementing Extensive Reading.” The hands-on session was facilitated by Professor Rob Waring, Emeritus Professor at Notre Dame Seishin University, Japan, and a globally recognised expert in Extensive Reading and second language acquisition.

The workshop aimed to equip teachers with practical, classroom-ready strategies for setting up and managing effective Extensive Reading programmes. Participants explored ways to integrate Extensive Reading into their lessons, assess student progress, and design engaging follow-up activities to enhance fluency and motivation.

Throughout the session, Professor Waring shared his extensive international experience in teaching and research, offering participants valuable insights into fostering a love for reading among students. His clear, interactive demonstrations made the concepts both accessible and directly applicable to real classroom contexts.
