Learning takes on a whole new meaning when lessons move beyond textbooks and into the real world. Through innovative approaches that make education fun, interactive, and experiential, students are given the chance to connect knowledge with practice.
A perfect example is the Industry into the Classroom initiative, where cultural heritage became the classroom. Principal Ms. Leong Mi-Chelle, Programme Leader Mr. Lee Chin Ching, and Ms. Sabrina recently explored the Penang History Gallery, witnessing first-hand how docents transform history into captivating stories that keep culture alive.

Inspired by this, Mr. Muhammad Irfan Bustaipo then guided students through a one-week externship project at the Gallery. Here, students stepped into the role of docents, interacting with visitors, practising storytelling, and sharing Penang’s rich heritage. This wasn’t just an assignment — it was a chance to build confidence, sharpen professional skills, and experience the tourism industry from the inside out.
The result? Students walked away not only with stronger communication and leadership abilities but also with a deeper appreciation for heritage preservation and its role in sustainable tourism.
