SEGi recently transformed its Green Hall into a buzzing hub of creativity, collaboration, and community during its highly anticipated Club Recruitment Day on 28 May 2025. Organised by the Student Representative Council (SRC), the event drew over 50 participants, including students and staff, all united by a common goal—to connect, inspire, and empower through student-led initiatives.
Designed to foster holistic development and community engagement, the event featured an array of booths from various student clubs, each creatively presenting their values, activities, and missions. From interactive games to compelling visuals, clubs aimed to capture the curiosity of new students and recruit passionate members who want to make an impact beyond the classroom.
In line with SEGi College Penang’s belief in experiential learning and student agency, the event included talks and sharing sessions that added depth to the experience. Highlights included “The Passion Survival Guide” by Hoodle, a motivational session on balancing personal interests with academic life, and an insightful sharing by Kelab Belia Setiakawan, which explored the growth of student organisations through strategic partnerships and community outreach.
As Malaysia works to meet Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 on Quality Education, initiatives like these are essential. According to UNESCO, holistic education that includes co-curricular involvement significantly improves student outcomes and mental well-being. SEGi continues to model this by offering spaces where leadership, communication, and collaboration are actively cultivated.
The success of the event reflects not just the vibrancy of campus life, but the institution’s broader commitment to creating inclusive, sustainable communities. By engaging with external partners and advocating student empowerment, SEGi reinforces the importance of student-driven initiatives in shaping future-ready graduates.
This event is organised in support of the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG):
SDG 4 – Quality Education
SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities
SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals
