SEGi has made a remarkable mark on the international stage by securing two bronze medals at the International Innovation Exhibition Fair (IIEF) 2025. This prestigious event, held on 26-27 February at Dewan Kolej Mara Kulim, brought together innovators from around the world, providing a platform to showcase cutting-edge advancements in teaching, technology, and product development. For the first time, SEGi students competed at this high-profile event, proving their capability to push boundaries in innovation and digital transformation.
The winning projects demonstrated exceptional creativity and problem-solving skills. Stockify, led by Lee Teoh Shun, introduced a revolutionary approach to stock market analysis and management, offering users an intuitive, data-driven solution. Meanwhile, Money Now, spearheaded by Liew Zhi Xian, focused on streamlining digital transactions, contributing to the growing fintech revolution, a sector projected to be worth USD 332.5 billion by 2028. Both projects were recognised for their ingenuity, technological sophistication, and potential impact on their respective industries.
With artificial intelligence, fintech, and digital transformation driving global economic growth, the success of these projects highlights the importance of fostering innovation in computer science and IT education. According to the World Economic Forum (WEF), 97 million new digital and technology-related jobs are expected to be created by 2025. Equipping students with the skills to develop real-world solutions is essential to preparing them for this rapidly evolving job market. This achievement directly supports Quality Education (SDG 4) by providing students with the opportunity to apply their knowledge in global competitions, ensuring they gain industry-relevant skills.
Technological innovations like Stockify and Money Now also align with Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9) by addressing real-world economic and financial challenges. As fintech adoption increases—with digital payments expected to surpass USD 10 trillion by 2027—the need for secure, user-friendly financial technology solutions is greater than ever. By encouraging students to create solutions that enhance financial accessibility and market intelligence, SEGi College Penang is driving technological progress and digital transformation.
The success at IIEF 2025 also strengthens Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17), fostering collaboration between academia, industry experts, and international institutions. By competing on a global stage, students engage in cross-border knowledge exchange, inspiring future research and technological breakthroughs. SEGi remains committed to expanding opportunities for students to participate in high-impact competitions, reinforcing its role as a hub for future innovators and tech leaders.
Winning two bronze medals at IIEF 2025 is a testament to the dedication, creativity, and technical expertise of SEGi students. As the demand for digital solutions and fintech innovations continues to grow, initiatives like these ensure that students are not only learning but also creating, innovating, and leading in an era of digital transformation.
