SEGi’s Diploma in Information Technology programme students are making an impact on both the national and international scenes. Under the mentorship of IT lecturer Mr Mohd Amizar, who launched the SEGi College Penang Young Innovators programme, these young talents are demonstrating their skills and creativity through competitive innovation and technology challenges.
Their journey began with a remarkable debut at the First International Informatics Creativity Competition (2I2C) on 16 October 2024. Competing globally for the first time, the team secured a Silver Medal with a project focused on enhancing library and information sciences. Led by Lam Yong Qin, with team members Calvin Ng, Kiven Raj, and Cheong Kai Qi, their solution prioritised accessibility, efficiency, and sustainability, impressing judges in a highly competitive virtual setting.
The team continued their success at the Balik Pulau National Innovation Competition (BPNIC) on 5 November 2024, where they earned another Silver Medal in the Green Technology category. Their innovative project aimed at promoting sustainability through green technology caught the attention of the competition’s judges, solidifying their reputation for creative problem-solving.
These accomplishments reflect SEGi College Penang’s focus on nurturing young innovators with a passion for real-world impact. By aligning their projects with global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, SEGi College Penang students are leading the way in creating solutions that make a difference.
This initiative is in line with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals, specifically:
