SEGi College Penang, in collaboration with JCI Tanjung Bungah, hosted a spectacular event—The Amazing Wonder Penang Heritage Treasure Hunt—bringing the city’s vibrant history and culture to life. Held as part of an ongoing effort to promote sustainable tourism, the event combined fun with education, offering participants an exciting journey through Penang’s historic landmarks, rich heritage, and artistic treasures.
With volunteers from SEGi College’s School of Hospitality and Tourism, this event successfully highlighted the value of local culture while encouraging teamwork, problem-solving, and community spirit.
Participants raced through the streets of Penang, uncovering hidden gems and solving clues that deepened their understanding of the city’s unique cultural identity. By integrating local businesses and traditional crafts as checkpoints, the treasure hunt not only enriched the experience for participants but also provided an economic boost to the community—aligning the event with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on promoting quality education, sustainable cities, and economic growth.
This innovative approach to tourism emphasized the importance of preserving cultural heritage while supporting the local economy. The event’s success underscored SEGi College’s commitment to creating immersive learning experiences that prepare students for the evolving demands of the tourism industry, while simultaneously fostering a deeper connection with the community.
