SEGi College Penang has achieved remarkable success by securing two gold medals at the International STEM Innovation Competition 2024 (ISIC 2024). Hosted by Wawasan Open University in Penang, ISIC 2024 aimed to foster interest and excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), while contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment, and Information Technology at SEGi College Penang shone brightly with the outstanding achievements of students Tan Xing Yue and Cheang Qing Nan. Both students received gold medals for their innovative projects, demonstrating SEGi’s dedication to applying cutting-edge technology to tackle real-world problems. Tan Xing Yue’s project, “The RFID Attendance System,” aims to revolutionise conventional attendance tracking using RFID technology, supporting SDG 8 by promoting productive employment and decent work for all.
Cheang Qing Nan’s project, “Inventory Management System,” utilises advanced artificial intelligence to streamline inventory processes, enhancing the efficiency of inventory and food checkouts. This project directly supports SDG 9 by promoting sustainable industrialisation and fostering innovation. Both projects serve as excellent examples of how SEGi students are making significant contributions to the global efforts of building more efficient and sustainable systems.
The event, organised by Wawasan Open University in collaboration with other institutions, brought together participants from esteemed universities and schools across the region, underscoring the importance of cooperation in addressing global challenges through innovation.
