SEGi College Penang recently reflected on a heartwarming Ramadan initiative led by students and staff from the School of Hospitality & Tourism Management, where the spirit of giving and compassion took centre stage. The outreach programme brought the community together through a simple yet meaningful act of kindness.
As part of the initiative, bubur lambuk was thoughtfully prepared and distributed to several organisations, including Wisma Yatim Perempuan Pulau Pinang, Balai Bomba Lebuh Pantai, and Balai Polis Lebuh Pantai. This gesture aimed to share warmth with those in need while expressing gratitude to dedicated frontliners who serve the community tirelessly.
The visit to the orphanage was particularly meaningful, as students had the opportunity to connect with the children, sharing not just food but also moments of care, joy, and companionship. It was a reminder of the importance of empathy and human connection, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
At the fire station and police station, the distribution served as a token of appreciation for the commitment and sacrifices made by frontliners. The simple act of giving became a powerful expression of gratitude and respect for those who ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
For the students involved, the experience extended beyond community service. It provided valuable exposure to real-life engagement, encouraging them to practise compassion, teamwork, and social responsibility—values that are essential both personally and professionally.
