SEGi College Kuala Lumpur takes a Heritage and Cultural Walk

On 24 July 2023, students enrolled in the Bachelor (Hons) International Tourism and Hospitality Management and Diploma in Tourism Management programmes at SEGi College Kuala Lumpur’s School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (SoHTMKL) embarked on an enriching Heritage and Cultural Walk. This captivating journey allowed them to explore iconic landmarks, foster social bonds, and better understand their lecturers and peers.

The students, representing diverse backgrounds, beliefs, religions, and nationalities, eagerly seized this opportunity to connect with their coursemates beyond the confines of the classroom. Educational excursions like these play a vital role in creating a sense of camaraderie among students and provide a platform for cultural exchange.

Beyond the academic setting, excursions like the Heritage and Cultural Walk enable students to see their lecturers in a different light while maintaining a professional atmosphere. This interaction allows lecturers and students to forge shared memories, spending quality time together that extends beyond typical college days. Lecturers gain valuable insights into their students’ interests and learning styles, strengthening the educator-student relationship.

SEGi College Kuala Lumpur’s SoHTMKL firmly believes in the significance of educational excursions. Such experiences encourage students to develop essential skills, including keen observation, exploration, sound judgment, and problem-solving abilities. Furthermore, these outings nurture qualities such as resourcefulness, self-confidence, initiative, and leadership among students.

By exposing students to diverse cultures and heritage sites, SEGi College Kuala Lumpur aims to cultivate well-rounded individuals who are both academically proficient, culturally aware, and socially adept. These experiences enrich the educational journey, equipping students with the skills and perspectives needed to excel in the global hospitality and tourism industry.

SEGi College Kuala Lumpur is committed to providing holistic educational experiences beyond textbooks and classrooms. Through initiatives like the Heritage and Cultural Walk, the institution empowers its students to become future leaders in tourism and hospitality.
