Hospitality Club Welcomes New Team Members at Annual Meeting

SEGi College Kuala Lumpur’s Hospitality, Tourism  and Culinary Arts (HOTCA) Club  held its 2023 annual meeting on 14 March to discuss the year’s upcoming events and activities and to hand over duties to new committee members.  Led by its inspirational advisor, Ms Norhaslinda Jamaluddin, the main objectives behind the club are to gather students from various programmes, regardless of their level of study, to come together to brainstorm for creative, exciting ideas and activities for the school. Students are encouraged to be part of the team so that they can produce interesting portfolios to create networking opportunities, develop new abilities, and build leadership skills in a fun way.

The club recruits new members once the senior members move ahead in their studies in order to give the them the opportunity to focus on academics and to give the juniors the opportunity to shine. The president of the club for the year 2023 is Mr Sim Hen Yee from the Bachelor in Tourism and Hospitality Management (BITHM), assisted by the Vice  President Mr Perwaan Kumar, and Treasurer Ms Thai Yen Yung, both from the Diploma in Culinary Arts (DICA), along with Mr Satish Prabaharan as the Media Officer from the Certificate in Hotel Operation (CIHO).

The latest event on 7 April 2023 was the “Feed the Fasting” project with the objectives of embracing the holy month of Ramadhan by doing good deeds and sharing food with others, and to grasp the opportunity for self-reflection and community engagement among the School of Tourism and Hospitality community. This helps to cultivate teamwork and kindness among this club’s team members.

Getting involved in sports clubs, societies, volunteering, and part-time work is a great way to meet new people, enjoy time at university and ensure students strike a healthy balance between studying and social life. It will also make students better candidates for graduate roles by giving them lots of practical examples they can use in job applications to show off their skills in different contexts.
