A Heartfelt Gesture in the Fight Against Hunger

SEGi University’s School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (SOHTM) has taken proactive steps to address this pressing issue. With startling statistics revealing that approximately 9.2% of the global population suffers from chronic hunger, the urgency to combat this crisis has never been greater.

In alignment with the Zero Hunger campaign, SOHTM seized the opportunity to educate students on the significance of this cause. Recently, they organised a meaningful initiative to prepare Bubur Lambuk, a traditional Malaysian porridge meal commonly served during Ramadan. Led by renowned chef Fazley and supported by Chef Siti Solihah, staff, and Diploma in Culinary Arts students, the team worked tirelessly to create a delicious and nourishing meal.

Despite initial plans to distribute 200 packs of Bubur Lambuk, the team’s dedication allowed them to prepare 260 servings. These were graciously distributed to Yayasan Rumah Anak-anak Yatim Wardatul Jannah in Kota Damansara, benefiting a community of 20 individuals.

The success of the Bubur Lambuk Giveaway program not only brought joy to students and staff but also fostered a sense of purpose and unity. It exemplifies SEGi’s commitment to social responsibility and community engagement, showcasing the institution’s dedication to making a positive impact beyond academic excellence.

Through initiatives like these, SEGi University continues to instill values of empathy, compassion, and volunteerism in its students, preparing them to be conscientious leaders and contributors to society.
