This momentous event took place on 25 October 2023, at Stage1 Theatre, Petaling Jaya Performing Arts Centre (PJPAC), 1 Utama E. The concert, a musical fusion extravaganza, brought together 32 talented postgraduate students from FoELPM and one exceptional music student from SEGi College Subang Jaya.

Sponsored by Japan Airlines and supported by the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia, the event was a tribute to the 50th ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation anniversary, organised by the Japan Foundation (JF). This concert served as a testament to the enduring partnership between ASEAN nations and Japan, embodying a shared commitment to regional harmony and prosperity. The aim was not only to celebrate this longstanding alliance but also to showcase the unique musical traditions of Japan and Malaysia, bridging cultures through the universal language of music.

Under the bright lights of Stage1 Theatre, the students from SEGi University and SEGi College Subang Jaya were treated to an enchanting blend of traditional Japanese folk music, known as minyo, and the mesmerizing sounds of Malaysia. The performances featured the renowned MIKAGE PROJECT and Malaysia’s traditional music sensation, Asmidar, creating an atmosphere filled with cultural richness and artistic brilliance. The students were not only passive observers but active participants in this musical extravaganza, experiencing firsthand the magic of cross-cultural collaboration and artistic expression.

This unforgettable experience not only broadened the students’ cultural horizons but also instilled in them a deep appreciation for the beauty of diversity and the power of music to transcend boundaries. As they immersed themselves in the harmonious melodies and rhythmic beats, they became ambassadors of cultural exchange, embodying the spirit of unity and friendship that defines the ASEAN-Japan partnership.

In conclusion, the participation of SEGi University and SEGi College Subang Jaya students in the MIKAGE PROJECT ASEAN TOUR was not just a musical event; it was a celebration of shared heritage, mutual respect, and artistic collaboration. Through their performances, these talented individuals illuminated the stage, leaving a lasting impression on the audience and contributing to the legacy of ASEAN-Japan friendship.
