SEGi College Subang Jaya has partnered with the FSA Esports Management Academy (FSA) and EVOS Esports (EVOS) to promote a joint certification programme on Esports Content Creation.
Professional content creation like many other vocations requires its own set of skills and competencies and this partnership is set to groom content creators for the realm of Esports.
In addition to creating job opportunities, it will also open up possibilities for creative talents, gamers, digital marketers or any members of the public with a passion in the field of Esports or digital content creation to gain the appropriate knowledge and skills for their professional development.
In this tripartite collaboration, EVOS will be developing the content for the professional training programme, FSA will be conducting the training whereas SEGi College Subang Jaya will be endorsing the programme. Upon completion, participants or students will receive a joint certification endorsed by all three parties.
“Our main objective is to raise the standard of Esports in Malaysia. This certification will also add a sense of professionalism as we have world-class trainers to teach, demonstrate and share their skills with aspiring content creation experts,” said Ms Stella Lau, Chief Executive Officer, SEGi Group of Colleges.
She said it was important for all talents – young and experienced – to reimagine the possibilities in their field of work. The fast-growing Esports field for instance used to be focused on gaming tournaments but it quickly evolved into a full-fledged ecosystem that has produced new career opportunities such as event and competition management, digital marketing, professional tournament settings, game art creation and content creation.
“As SEGi moves Towards IR4.0, our involvement in innovative fields like Esports can shape opinions, change perspectives, create jobs and revolutionise the job market. This will not just benefit our students but also members of the public who wish to get certified with additional skills like digital content creation,” said Lau.
The six-week programme will enable learners to get acquainted with skills, techniques, and strategies of professional content planning, creation and roll-out for Esports. They will also be exposed to basic pre and post-production techniques including editing, shooting, talent management and marketing.
SEGi College Deputy Principal Calvin Chan said the programme will tremendously benefit their students as it enables them to develop cross-disciplinary skills. He added that this bodes well with SEGi’s student-centric approach which pushes for excellence via enrichment and skills enhancement programmes.
FSA, which specialises in professional certification in Esports management, seeks to use this opportunity to groom the right talents for the competitive gaming industry.
“With a well-structured and holistic training approach, FSA, EVOS and SEGi will be working closely to develop and deliver the E-sports Content Creation Programme and at the same time, create exciting job opportunities for the new generation workforce,” said FSA ESports Management Academy Co-Founder Mervyn Lai.
Meanwhile, a well-known figure in the gaming scene, Allan Phang said the partnership between FSA, EVOS and SEGi is a big step in professionalising Esports and introducing various possibilities and career opportunities that will contribute to the growth and development of both, the industry and its talents. Phang is the Regional Head (Marketing & PR) of Evos Esports and was the main brain behind AirAsia Allstars Esports Club.
