SEGi College Kuala Lumpur conducted an impactful education visit to SMK Jinjang, Kuala Lumpur, focusing on Basic First Aid. This initiative brought together five staff members from the School of Nursing and 79 secondary school students, providing them with essential life-saving skills. The session was led by a clinical instructor, alongside a lecture and two Year 3 nursing students, in collaboration with the Marketing Department.
The visit aimed to equip students with the confidence to apply basic first aid techniques accurately and effectively. It also served as a platform to develop simple, age-appropriate lessons on first aid, ensuring comprehension across different age groups. By engaging with students, teachers, and staff, the initiative promoted knowledge exchange on common safety practices and injury prevention, fostering a culture of health awareness.
Students actively participated in hands-on training sessions, which included demonstrations on arm-sling application, CPR techniques using a mannequin, and proper stretcher handling. These interactive sessions provided practical exposure to emergency response, reinforcing their ability to respond to real-life situations. The event also offered nursing students an invaluable opportunity to enhance their communication skills and professionalism in a community setting.
With 79 students from Form 1 to Form 4 taking part, this programme not only equipped them with fundamental medical skills but also introduced them to potential career pathways in healthcare. The visit aligned with SEGi’s commitment to nurturing future healthcare professionals, creating awareness of the Diploma in Nursing programme and inspiring students to consider a rewarding career in nursing.
