Ensuring quality assurance in higher education is a necessary element in maintaining standards, enhancing validity, enabling mutual recognition of qualifications across institutions and developing a quality culture within institutions.
The engagement of external assessors or examiners is one of the approaches which can contribute to external quality assurance of the academic process and enable comparability between the host university and other reputable institutions of higher learning.
Recently, SEGI College Kuala Lumpur invited Assoc Prof Dr. Hizam Hanafiah from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) to be our external academic assessors for the following programmes: –
- Foundation in Business Studies
- Diploma in Business Administration
- Bachelor in business administration collaboration with the University of Greenwich, UK
- Master of Business Administration collaboration with the University of Sunderland
Among those who took part in discussion with Assoc Prof Dr. Hizam were Dr. Joachim, Programme Leader for Internal Programmes and Emelia, the Programme Leader for Postgraduates.
According to Assoc Prof Dr Hizam, all the programmes above meet the minimum requirement as per Malaysia Qualification Agency (MQA) regulations. He also recommended incorporating future-ready curriculum in the new curriculum and incorporating various modes of teaching and learning, such as industry talks, industry visits and how to incorporate experiential learning.
SEGI College Kuala Lumpur looks forward to the proposed feedback and will discuss further with partner universities to provide the best education experience to students.
