Dressing for Success Just Got a Whole New Meaning

SEGi celebrated International Women’s Day 2025 with The Everyday Glow of Aspiring Women, an empowering training programme aimed at enhancing grooming, self-presentation, and workplace confidence. Sponsored by Sa Sa Malaysia, this initiative provided participants with practical skills in professional makeup techniques, reinforcing the importance of confidence in career success. Held on 12 March 2025, the session aligned with the theme “Aspiring Women, Building a Legacy,” equipping attendees with skills to carry themselves with confidence in professional settings.

Dressed in purple and white to symbolise solidarity, participants engaged in an interactive session led by Saripah, who shared key insights on identifying individual facial features, understanding undertones, and mastering professional grooming techniques. Studies show that self-confidence can increase career success rates by up to 30%, making self-presentation an essential skill in the workplace. The session provided women with practical tools to project confidence, professionalism, and authenticity in their careers.

As part of the sponsorship, 40 exclusive goodie bags containing eight premium beauty products were distributed, enhancing the participants’ ability to apply their newly acquired skills beyond the event. With the global beauty and personal care industry projected to reach USD 646 billion by 2027, knowledge in self-presentation and personal branding is becoming increasingly relevant in both corporate and entrepreneurial spaces.

Confidence plays a pivotal role in leadership and professional growth, particularly for women navigating competitive career landscapes. By integrating practical learning with personal development, this initiative directly supports Gender Equality (SDG 5) by empowering women with the skills and confidence to thrive in leadership roles and career advancement. It also aligns with Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8) by reinforcing workplace professionalism and preparing individuals for career readiness in diverse industries.

The event concluded with a motivational closing speech highlighting the significance of confidence in building a lasting legacy, reinforcing that true empowerment extends beyond appearance to self-belief and capability. With research indicating that companies with gender-diverse leadership teams outperform competitors by 21%, the initiative reflects the broader mission of fostering confident, career-ready women who can make meaningful contributions to the workforce.

This collaboration between SEGi College Kuala Lumpur’s academia and industry highlights the power of partnerships in promoting personal and professional growth. By working with industry leaders, the initiative also aligns with Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17), ensuring that education remains holistic, impactful, and relevant to evolving career landscapes. Participants left feeling empowered, polished, and ready to make their mark, proving that confidence and self-presentation are key drivers of success in today’s professional world.
