Think You Know How to Write a Resume? Think Again

SEGi recently conducted a dynamic Resume Workshop aimed at boosting students’ career readiness and professional confidence. Organised by the IT Club on 16 April 2025, the session provided participants with practical strategies to craft impactful, job-winning resumes. The workshop addressed key resume structures, formatting techniques, and tailoring content to match specific job roles—skills increasingly critical in today’s competitive employment landscape.

Globally, youth unemployment remains a pressing concern, with the International Labour Organization reporting that young people are three times more likely to be unemployed than adults. In Malaysia, employability has been an ongoing focus, with TalentCorp and the Ministry of Higher Education highlighting graduate skill gaps as a key challenge in securing employment. This initiative is part of SEGi College Kuala Lumpur’s continuous commitment to bridging those gaps by equipping students with the tools to present themselves effectively in the job market.

Students engaged in interactive, hands-on activities and received personalised feedback, transforming theoretical advice into tangible outcomes. The session also offered valuable insights into aligning personal achievements with employer expectations, ultimately increasing participants’ confidence in presenting their qualifications. It was a timely opportunity for students to refine their personal branding in preparation for real-world opportunities.

This workshop exemplifies SEGi’s holistic approach to education, going beyond classroom learning to address essential life and career skills. With the job market evolving rapidly due to technological advancement and global disruption, initiatives like this ensure that students are not only academically prepared but professionally agile and future-ready.

Such efforts reflect a deeper purpose—to empower young individuals with the confidence and competence to shape their own futures. By focusing on career empowerment and employability, SEGi reinforces its role in shaping resilient, adaptable graduates who can contribute meaningfully to society.

This event is organised in support of the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG):
