A group of six dedicated SEGi College KL students, known as “Team Love Spreader,” organised a heartwarming event at the Sunteck Handicapped Welfare Home in Kuala Lumpur on 20 July 2024. Guided by their lecturer, Mr Vijayasekar, the students aimed to enhance child welfare and combat poverty, demonstrating their commitment to social responsibility.
Arriving promptly at 10:30 am, the team ensured all donated goods were handed over to the home before embarking on a day filled with meaningful interactions and activities. A short tour and informative talk with the Person in Charge, Ah Ming, provided valuable insights into the daily operations and needs of the residents.
Following the tour, the students spent time connecting with the residents, fostering a sense of camaraderie and understanding. They then prepared drawing books and snacks for a planned activity session. A joyful drawing session commenced at 12:15 pm, encouraging residents to express their creativity and imagination.
While a balloon-passing game was initially planned, it was respectfully cancelled due to some balloons bursting, causing anxiety amongst a few residents. Adapting to the situation, the students joined a lively square dance organised by other volunteers, ensuring everyone had a fun and enjoyable experience.
The event concluded with the distribution of snacks and sweets, followed by a cleaning session and a group photo to capture the memories of this special day. Departing at 2:15 pm, the students carried with them a sense of fulfilment and joy, reflecting on the impactful moments shared with the residents.
