SEGi collaborates with MMTA

SEGi hits another milestone to provide better quality education.

On 13th August 2020 SEGi was graced by the presence of Datuk Johnson Lim, the President of the Malaysian Mobile Technology Association (MMTA). With him were Vice Presidents of MMTA, Ms. Agnest Chan and Mr. Shawn Ng. Their presence were in conjunction with the official signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between both parties to raise employment opportunities for ICT talents.

The guests were welcomed by the top management of SEGi Group of Colleges, namely CEO Ms. Stella Lau, Principal of SEGi College Kuala Lumpur, Mr Sri Jaiandran Munusamy, Deputy Principal of SEGi College Subang Jaya, Mr Calvin Chan and Segi College Subang Jaya Centre for Continuing Education Deputy Head, Eve Tan Ai Gee.

In signing the MoU, SEGi and MMTA will collaborate through training and certification programmes, consultancy, internship and job opportunities and professional industry engagements and networking. This will open windows for career placements for SEGi students and educational chances for the association members.

SEGi University and Colleges will be providing MMTA members upskilling and reskilling opportunities through selected training programmes and study opportunities for their staff and immediate family members, whereas MMTA will serve as a corporate partner and academic advisor to SEGi on their IT and Computing programme offerings and student engagements and placements.

MMTA is a professional body that represents the majority of providers of mobile services including Huawei Technologies (M) Sdn Bhd, which include infrastructure and platforms, solutions, system integrations, payments, telecommunication and content. The body serves as a knowledge platform for mobile industry players to update and engage with emerging technologies and innovations in the Information and Communications (ICT) sector.

“This partnership will not only raise the quality of our study programmes, but also widen and secure employment opportunities for our students. At the same time, we are given the privilege of upskilling or reskilling MMTA’s member associations so that they can sustain themselves in this fast-evolving industry,” said Ms. Stella Lau.

Datuk Johnson Lim also added “We have to partner with others to help the industry grow. This MoU marks a milestone for the industry and also the association.”

Management of SEGi Group of Colleges and staff and affiliates of MMTA at the MoU signing ceremony between both parties that is aimed at raising employment opportunities and upskilling for the existing and future ICT talents.
