As the Movement Control Order (MCO) been imposed by the Malaysian Government, the Peer Counsellors Group has shifted the role play session through Google Meet.
The online role play sessions were held to further polish their basic counselling skills, where they would be taking turns to play different roles as a peer counsellor, a friend with personal issue, and an observer. A total of 21 peer counsellor members had participated in the role play that had been held on 14 January to 21 January 2021.
The role play is a crucial exercise as the team members would learn to be an effective listener, for them to reach out to others who are having emotional distress. They would be applying the basic counselling techniques such as applying open-ended questions, paraphrasing, summarising, reflection of feelings, clarifying and attending postures.
The members have expressed that the exercise has greatly benefited and increase their empathy.
Kudos to all members of Peer Counsellors 2020/2021 for the helping spirits!
