Oath Taking Ceremony

The Counselling Services under Student Affairs Division had recently organized an Oath Taking & Appreciation Ceremony for the former and newly elected Peer Counsellors on 9th April 2021, at Auditorium A while adhere strictly to SOP such as masks on and maintaining social distance.

Professor Azrin started it with a welcoming address, which mentioned that the Year 2020 was a challenging year, as people are forced to adapt to new realities. Nevertheless, the former peer counsellors had managed to contribute their part in several virtual programs such as an online workshop, online group chat, role-play session, mental health awareness, virtual run and intellectual forum. They were then awarded certificates and virtual run packages after the video presentation.

The newly elected peer counsellors of the Year 2021/22 took an Oath of Confidentiality, which is similar to informed consent for those seeking counselling services. They were then awarded button badges.

For the past 5 years, the peer counsellors group is a group of students who volunteer themselves and selected specifically to be trained with basic counselling skills to reach out to others who are struggling emotionally. The team would also assist in all mental health programmes organized by the Counselling Services.
