On 12 March 2022, SEGi College’s MBA students attended a talk by Dr Derek Watson, Centre Leader from the University of Sunderland, during their class on Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer.
One of the modules in SEGi MBA, Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer is a collaborative programme with the University of Sunderland, UK. The module aims to equip students with knowledge on the choices and challenges in building and managing an innovative organisation and how to apply it to the business world.
Dr Derek Watson is the founder of the University’s “Business Clinic’ and leads the University’s Dotoral ‘Research Fridays’ programme. He has extensive experience in innovation, technology transfer and mapping-skills requirements in emerging sectors.
During the class, Dr Watson shared his experience in building and managing innovative and entrepreneurial organisations. Our MBA lively students also shared their different point of views, and all enjoyed the fruitful discussion.
Ms Yoke Ling, Head of the Faculty of Business and Accountancy said that the #SEGiGlobalClassroom series is initiated by the faculty to bring world-class international academic experts into our local classrooms. It provides an opportunity for our local students to gain international experience learning from academics overseas. This series is also made possible by SEGi’s extensive expertise in education and strong relationship with our partner universities worldwide, offering students an unmatched global learning experience they cannot get with a local MBA.
