SEGi College Subang Jaya recently showcased its dedication to fostering compassion and community engagement through the “Paws to Care” event, held on 20 July 2024 at Pertubuhan Kebajikan Haiwan Selangor, Homesland Animal Shelter, Puchong. Organised by the School of MPU, this event aimed to instil a deep sense of responsibility and empathy towards animals among participants, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 15 (SDG 15: Life on Land).
Volunteering at animal shelters has long been recognised as an activity that benefits the animals and significantly impacts the volunteers and the community. Participants in the “Paws to Care” event had the opportunity to interact with the shelter animals, experiencing firsthand the joy and fulfilment that comes from helping those in need. This engagement contributes positively to personal development, enhancing qualities such as compassion, empathy, and a sense of purpose.
The event also highlighted the therapeutic benefits of spending time with animals, offering volunteers an enriching experience that is hard to replicate elsewhere. By involving students in such meaningful activities, SEGi College Subang Jaya continues to promote a holistic educational approach, encouraging students to extend their learning beyond the classroom and into the community.
SEGi College Subang Jaya’s commitment to social responsibility and sustainability is evident through initiatives like “Paws to Care.” By nurturing a compassionate mindset and a proactive approach to environmental stewardship, SEGi not only prepares students for academic success but also empowers them to contribute positively to society and the planet.
