SEGi Group of Colleges was invited by Ahli Majlis Mesyuarat Kerajaan (EXCO) Negeri Pulau Pinang to the Consultation Session for Programme Discussion on Active Ageing and Early Development for children below six years old on 28 March 2022. SEGi sent Ms Yeoh Sun Wei, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Education and Psychology, and Poh Wan Yi, a lecturer at SEGi College Penang, as our representatives.
The purpose of the consultation session was to work with partners and subject-matter experts to develop programmes with MMK Social Development, which carries out programmes and collaborate in partnership to do more social development in active-aging and early-childhood development.
Ms Yeoh was selected as one of the leaders in the discussion for early-childhood development. The team identified holistic developmental delay for children due to the pandemic and the MCO. They also agreed that it is crucial to take immediate action to prevent this generation of children from getting left behind. They suggested a programme called “Our Children, Our Responsibility” to engage parents, teachers, and the general community to work together to facilitate the holistic development of children.
Children are our hope for the future. Their developmental lack between pre-Covid and post-Covid times need to be addressed and this is the responsibility of all these stakeholders.
