SEGi’s School of MPU recently organised a heartwarming event titled “From Hunger to Hope: Supporting Those in Need,” to address the immediate hunger and nutritional needs of homeless individuals and low-income families. The event not only provided wholesome and nutritious meals but also raised awareness for long-term sustainable food solutions, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger.
According to recent statistics, a significant portion of the population relies on soup kitchens as their only food source for the day. Understanding the importance of these facilities, SEGi University took the initiative to support the community by partnering with the renowned Kechara Soup Kitchen Food Bank in Setapak Jaya, Kuala Lumpur.
During the event, SEGi students actively participated in food preparation and distribution at the food bank, ensuring that registered lower-income families received much-needed nourishment. The students also displayed their generosity by contributing essential donation items to the organisation, further extending their support.
Volunteering at soup kitchens not only allows individuals to make a positive impact on society but also provides valuable learning experiences. Through this charitable endeavour, SEGi students had the opportunity to connect with veterans, elderly individuals, and children from diverse backgrounds, gaining insights into their unique life stories and perspectives.
By organising “From Hunger to Hope: Supporting Those in Need,” SEGi University’s School of MPU demonstrated its commitment to fostering a compassionate community that strives to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger. Through their efforts, SEGi students exemplified the university’s dedication to making a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.
