Rewriting Stories Of Excellence: SEGi College Subang Jaya’s 24th Convocation Marks Unparalleled Growth

On 1st December 2024, SEGi College Subang Jaya celebrated its 24th Convocation Ceremony at SEGi University in Kota Damansara, honouring the achievements of 699 graduates.

397 enthusiastic graduates attended the event, giving life to this momentous day. It was more than a culmination of academic efforts—it was a celebration of persistence, creativity, and transformation, as graduates reflected on their journeys from dreamers to achievers, ready to leave a mark on the world.

Among the highlights of the day was the inspiring address by the valedictorian, Nur Alanis Dania Binti Mohammad Ali, who moved the audience with her words:
“Every step forward counts, no matter how small. It’s not always about having all the resources or support right away, but about finding creative solutions, seeking out mentors, and embracing persistence.

The key is to keep believing in your worth and keep working toward your goals, no matter how impossible they may seem. Everyone has the potential to reach places they never imagined, sometimes with unexpected turns and twists along the way.”

Her message struck a chord with the graduates, who had lived out these lessons during their time at SEGi College Subang Jaya (SCSJ). From juggling demanding coursework to navigating personal challenges, these graduates embodied the spirit of perseverance and creativity. They discovered that success isn’t about having a perfect path laid out but about carving one’s way forward, step by step.

The ceremony celebrated the exceptional achievements of 35 First Class Honours graduates from the University of Greenwich, and 20 from the University of Sunderland. Yet beyond these merits lies the heart of SEGi’s mission—helping students grow into individuals who dare to dream, adapt, and overcome obstacles with the pursuit of something greater.

This convocation was particularly significant. It marked the transition from SEGi’s former campus to its state-of-the-art facilities at Edumetro, USJ 1. The new 200,000-square-foot campus was home to cutting-edge amenities such as Engineering Labs, a Baking & Pastry Studio, Mock-Up Hotel Rooms, and an E-Sports Lab, designed to provide top-tier hands-on education but also to prepare students for the complexities of the real world.

Facilities like the Delicieux Cafe, wholly run and managed by students of the School of Hospitality & Tourism, and the Music Room, where the Music Club freely expressed and let their creativity run free.

Their time at SEGi College Subang Jaya taught students’ invaluable life lessons, mirroring Alanis’ message of seeking creative solutions and embracing unexpected twists.

Inclusivity and well-being are at the core of SEGi’s Edumetro campus. By embracing such principles, SEGi lives out its commitment to United Nations SDG 4: Quality Education, ensuring equal opportunities for students from all walks of life.

For the graduates, this convocation was a deeply personal milestone. Moving from the familiar walls of the old campus to Edumetro’s vibrant and modern spaces mirrored their own transformation—the shedding of self-doubt, embracing persistence, and emerging as confident, empowered individuals. Alanis’ words resonated in their hearts as they stepped forward, ready to take on the challenges ahead with a renewed belief in their worth and potential.

As Alanis so eloquently reminded us, the path to greatness is not always straight, but with belief in oneself, the impossible becomes possible. SEGi’s graduates have taken this lesson to heart, and the world awaits the mark they are destined to leave.
