16 students from the BSc Psychology programme at SEGi University participated in an enlightening training session on House-Tree-Person (HTP) drawing interpretation. Led by Ms. Ellina, a psychology lecturer and certified practitioner of HTP drawing, the training provided students with valuable insights into this psychological assessment tool.
The training aimed to equip students with knowledge of the HTP drawing technique, a widely used tool in psychology to uncover an individual’s subconscious mind and psychological concerns.
The session began at 9.15am, with Ms. Ellina introducing the theoretical foundations of the HTP drawing technique. Students were taught to interpret the elements of the drawing based on established research practices, gaining a deeper understanding of how psychological traits and issues are reflected in creative expression.
A hands-on practical session followed, where students applied their newly acquired knowledge by analysing and interpreting their peers’ drawings. This interactive approach allowed participants to experience the application of the HTP technique in real-time, enhancing their practical skills in psychological assessment.
The session concluded at 4.30pm, leaving students with a deeper appreciation for the complexities of psychological interpretation and the potential of creative tools like HTP in uncovering subconscious patterns. By blending theory with practice, the training empowered students with a unique skill set that will benefit their academic and professional journeys in psychology.
