SEGi College Subang Jaya recently took another significant step in enhancing its hands-on educational approach through a class excursion to Casero Stone Sdn Bhd in Semenyih on 16 April 2024. Organized by the Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment, and Information Technology (FOEBEIT), this visit offered students a unique opportunity to engage in real-world learning, directly aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure).
The excursion, which saw the participation of 21 individuals, including 16 students and two lecturers, was meticulously planned to enrich the students’ understanding of material measurements, appliances, and furniture carpentry works. Students were given the chance to observe and take notes on industry practices, providing them with invaluable insights that complement their theoretical studies. The hands-on experience allowed them to appreciate the craftsmanship and precision involved in the construction and design processes, reinforcing the practical aspects of their academic curriculum.
One of the key highlights of the visit was the detailed briefing session where students were guided through the intricate processes involved in furniture and carpentry works. This session not only enhanced their technical knowledge but also prepared them for future challenges in the engineering and construction industries. The excursion was a resounding success, achieving all its objectives and leaving a lasting impact on the participants.
Such initiatives underscore SEGi’s commitment to delivering quality education that bridges the gap between classroom learning and industry practices. By exposing students to real-world environments, SEGi ensures that its graduates are well-equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in their respective fields.
This event is organised in support of the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG):
