As humans, sometimes we are so busy with life that we forget about our body and mind. There are just so many things to worry about – work, relationships, finances, among other things. Sometimes we are too driven to succeed in life to the point that we neglect our mental and physical health.
To address this issue, the School of MPU and Language organised a virtual event called ‘Mindful Retreat’ on 5 November 2022 in an effort to create awareness in our community of the importance of mental health, self-care and general well-being. It is also aimed to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness and to promote emotional well-being practices as well as help-seeking behaviour when necessary.
The speaker was Dr Shawaludin Husin, an Occupational Health doctor from Integrated Occupational Health Solutions, who talked about how to improve health and the quality of life.
Through this event, the participants were able to understand mental-health problems and the ways to improve their mental well-being. They were made to understand that it is okay to share their mental-health issues with others and to seek help.
