SEGi University and Colleges has catapulted mental health awareness into the spotlight with an impactful webinar titled ‘Drama or Depression.’ This gripping virtual event, hosted via Facebook Live and Zoom Live, delved into the intricate terrain of depression, sparking a profound discourse that resonated with over 100 engaged participants.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In a world where mental health concerns are increasingly prevalent, SEGi’s initiative significantly fosters understanding and empathy. Beyond surface-level negativity, the session aimed to unravel the multifaceted dimensions of depression, spotlighting its nuanced impact on individuals and society.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Guiding this enlightening journey were eminent voices in the field: Dr Andrew Ng, a seasoned counsellor with over 40 years of experience and founder of Agape Counselling Center Malaysia; Dr Yeoh Sun Wei, the Head of Psychology at SEGi University and Colleges; and Lee Jie Ryn, a budding Bachelor’s in Science Psychology student at SEGi College Subang Jaya, in collaboration with the University of Greenwich.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The webinar presented a mosaic of insights, exploring the signs of depression, bridging generational understanding gaps, dismantling stigma, and harnessing the power of personal narratives. Staggering global statistics underline the significance of this initiative. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that depression afflicts approximately 264 million people worldwide1. SEGi’s commitment to driving conversations around mental health, as demonstrated through events like ‘Drama or Depression,’ is a testament to its dedication to holistic education.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
