SEGi’s skyward bound education with AirAsia 

The School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (SOHTM) at SEGi embarked on an exciting educational field trip to the renowned Red Q, Capital A – Home of the All-Stars, better known as AirAsia. This immersive visit aimed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the airline industry and the intricacies involved in operating a successful airline. 

During the visit, students had the privilege of engaging in interactive sessions with two esteemed professionals from AirAsia. Zuzana Arvin, the Group’s Global Head of Recruitment, shared valuable insights into the airline’s customer service practices and the importance of exceptional service in creating a memorable travel experience. Sharon Gurmesh Singh, Senior Manager at the Customer Happiness Department, provided a fascinating glimpse into the incorporation of technology in modern air travel and how it enhances overall customer satisfaction. 

These sessions not only exposed students to the various aspects of the aviation industry but also inspired them to consider pursuing careers in this dynamic field. The firsthand interactions with industry experts offered invaluable knowledge and a realistic perspective on the effort and dedication required to ensure safe and efficient air travel services. 

The highlight of the visit was a comprehensive tour of Red Q, where students could explore various facilities available exclusively for AirAsia’s All-Stars. From witnessing the famous spiral chute in action to enjoying breathtaking views of aeroplanes landing and taking off from the runway during lunch, this immersive experience left a lasting impression on all participants. 

According to data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), AirAsia has consistently ranked among the top low-cost carriers regarding passenger traffic and fleet size (Source: IATA). This visit to AirAsia’s headquarters further solidified SEGi University’s commitment to providing its students with real-world learning experiences that align with industry trends and demands.
