The vibrant spirit of community, youth leadership, and collaboration was on full display during Fair Fundraising 2025, hosted by SMK Bandar Kuching No. 1. With over 50 stalls offering food, drinks, crafts, games, and more, the event gathered schools, NGOs, and private sector supporters for a shared purpose: to raise funds for school and community development while cultivating leadership among students.<\/p>\n

Among the key contributors was a passionate team from the SEGi Leo Club, who, alongside the Lions Club of Kuching Kota Sentosa, brought energy and entrepreneurial flair to their food and beverage stall. Their efforts paid off\u2014literally and figuratively\u2014raising RM2,280 while gaining valuable hands-on experience in event management, sales, and social engagement. The initiative not only supported a worthy cause but also strengthened the students\u2019 leadership and communication skills.<\/p>\n

What made the event even more meaningful was its alignment with a global agenda for sustainable progress. Community-led fundraising empowers schools to take ownership of their development needs. According to UNESCO, education systems worldwide face serious funding shortfalls, with over 250 million children still out of school. Events like this bridge the gap, ensuring local solutions contribute to global goals.<\/p>\n

YB Dr Kelvin Yii, Member of Parliament for Bandar Kuching, visited the Leo Club stall and was presented with a certificate of appreciation for his ongoing support. His presence underscored the importance of multi-sector collaboration in nurturing civic-minded youth and sustainable school ecosystems.<\/p>\n

The participation of SEGi College Sarawak’s students is a reflection of a larger commitment\u2014to cultivate not just academic excellence but character, compassion, and civic responsibility. Through service-based learning, they are empowered to create meaningful impact in the communities they serve.<\/p>\n
