SEGi College Sarawak recently organised an educational visit for students from the Diploma in Human Resource Management (DHRM) program to the Sarawak Labour Department in Kuching. Led by a law lecturer from the Faculty of Law, this visit aimed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world experience. The initiative was designed to expose students to the inner workings of the Labour Department, providing them with valuable insights into workplace culture, legal processes, and potential career paths in human resources and labour law.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The visit commenced promptly at 9:00 am, with students being transported to the venue via SEGi\u2019s dedicated transport. Upon arrival, they were warmly welcomed by the Pegawai Perhubungan Perusahaan, who provided an in-depth briefing on the department\u2019s functions, authority, and its critical role in the workforce ecosystem. This introduction was an eye-opener for the students, allowing them to understand the complexities of labour law enforcement and its impact on the local economy.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the highlights of the visit was the opportunity to observe a live trial at the Labour Court. This experience was particularly significant, as it provided students with a first-hand look at the judicial process concerning employment disputes and conflicts. Such exposure is invaluable in fostering a deeper understanding of the practical applications of their studies and preparing them for future careers in the field.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The educational tour concluded with a photo session, where students had the chance to capture their memorable experience with the department\u2019s officers. As a token of appreciation, SEGi presented the Pegawai Perhubungan Perusahaan with a small gift, symbolising the institution’s gratitude for the department’s hospitality and the enriching experience provided to the students.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This visit not only enriched the students\u2019 academic journey but also aligned with SEGi\u2019s commitment to supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
